Abstract: In this program the participants will receive a review on pathophysiology and diagnosis of proteinuria. We will then discuss medical treatment of proteinuria both nutritional and medical. This discussion will include highlights from multiple studies evaluating diet, ACE-inhibitors and Angiotensin Receptor blockers. Focus will be on when to institute which anti-proteinuric agent, when it is contraindicated and follow-up and response to therapy.

Janet Roque-Torres


Janet Roque-Torres is a current third-year small animal internal medicine resident at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in West Lafayette Indiana. She is originally from Miami Florida and went to Purdue for her veterinary degree. From there, she completed her small animal rotating internship at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Hospital and then returned to Purdue where she is currently finishing her last year of residency. Her interests include various endoscopic procedures, immune-mediated diseases, and stabilization of critically ill patients. When she finishes her residency, she plans on going to a private practice with a high procedural caseload, while also reaching out to local zoos or conservations to assist with advanced medical care for great apes. On her free time (when not living in Indiana) she enjoys paddle boarding, going to the beach with her dogs and reading historical fiction. She has 2 large mixed breed dogs name Kramer and Jacob.
