Free webinar brought to you by Hill's Pet Nutrition, Canada

Speaker:
Dr Allison Collier

DVM, Assistant Professor at the Ontario Veterinary College

Summary

In this program, participants will learn about chronic enteropathy (CE) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Distinctions between the two terms will be reviewed. Additionally, methods of diagnosis will be discussed, including the utility of treatment trials and gastrointestinal biopsies. As many patients with CE can respond to dietary therapy alone, the pros and cons of different dietary options will be reviewed. Additionally, different immunosuppressive options will be discussed. It has been noted that patients with IBD/CE have alterations to their gastrointestinal microbiota. Methods for management of this aspect, including probiotics/probiotics and fecal microbiota transplantation will additionally be briefly reviewed.
