Deborah Monks is the owner of Brisbane Bird and Exotics Service in Queensland, Australia. After graduating from the University of Queensland, Dr. Monks worked in a variety of practices (general, emergency, 50% avian/50% small animal practice), before finally moving to the United Kingdom to start an avian residency at Great Western Referrals. While in England, she obtained her Certificate of Zoological Medicine (CertZooMed). Deborah is also a Diplomate of the European College of Zoological Medicine and Surgery (Avian) and a Fellow (Specialist) in Avian Medicine and Surgery of the FANCVSc. Dr. Monks is President of the Unusual Pets and Avian Vets Special Interest Group of the Australian Veterinary Association, she is the Examination Chair of the Avian Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, and is on both the Scientific and Outreach Committees of the European College of Zoological Medicine. She’s served as an online consultant for the Veterinary Information Network for a decade, and has edited two veterinary textbooks, with another one in preparation.

Dr Kieran Borgeat
BSc BVSc MVetMed CertVC MRCVS DipACVIM DipECVIM-CA (Cardiology) Kieran is a world-renowned Specialist in veterinary cardiology and is Clinical Director at Eastcott Referrals, where he has developed the cardiology and interventional surgery service. He has spoken on five continents on a variety of cardiology topics, and trained vets from across the globe in how to perform minimally invasive vascular procedures. He has pioneered and refined the transpulmonic stent angioplasty procedure in dogs with complex pulmonic stenosis, now widely performed across Europe and the USA, and was the first vet in the UK to perform trans-catheter edge-to-edge repair in dogs with mitral valve disease. He is an active researcher, working on non-contact heart rate measurement in companion species, and is co-host of the new veterinary cardiology podcast, The Animal Heartbeat. At home he is kept busy by his four children, a Cavapoo called Wookiee and a cat called Katniss.
