About the Online Toxicology Symposium 2024
What Is it – March is Poison Prevention Awareness Month and the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) and VetEducation, have teamed up to bring to you three live and interactive webinars. In these live sessions, renowned speakers from the APCC will explore how you can identify, prevent, and treat various toxins.

For most countries, this symposium qualifies for 3 hours of continuing education. CPD certificates will be provided for all lectures (including the recordings).

Speaker: Dr Nicole DockreySummary: In this webinar we will discuss some of the unique aspects of different toxins and toxicoses, as well as practical tidbits of information in the management of canine and feline toxin exposures.

Decontamination: Things We Have Learned
Speaker: Dr Jennifer HopkinsSummary: This lecture will focus on methods of decontamination, one of the most important first steps to consider in the treatment of toxicity. Indications and methods for oral, ocular, and dermal decontamination will be discussed with varying species considered. Contraindications and complications with common decontamination methods will be covered. Additionally, less common forms of decontamination, such as intralipid therapy and extracorporeal elimination, will be touched on.

Movie NightSummary: Second Chance Dogs” tells the story of one facility dedicated to giving abused and neglected animals another chance. Through innovative techniques, patience, and complete commitment, the staff at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center is moving these animals — once considered hopeless cases — from rescue to rehabilitation, and ultimately into safe and loving homes.
