Delisa Appleton

Delisa graduated in Veterinary Science from the University of Queensland with honours in 1987 after which she worked in mixed and small animal veterinary practice for 7 years before commencing work in the nutrition industry. She then returned to the University of Queensland in 1999 to undertake research into nutritional aspects of obesity and diabetes in cats and was awarded a PhD in nutrition in 2004.
Delisa is currently employed in the Veterinary Affairs Department of Hill’s Pet Nutrition as a Professional Consulting Veterinarian with more than 25 years’ experience in the field of small animal nutrition.
Katelyn O'Connor

Katelyn graduated as a veterinarian in 2016 from The University of Adelaide. She worked in small animal practice for almost 4 years, treating primarily dogs and cats, before moving to an industry role with Hill’s Pet Nutrition in 2020. She now works as a Professional Consulting Veterinarian and is passionate about nutrition in pets.

Nick Cave

Associate Professor, Massey University Veterinary School
Nick Cave graduated from Massey University (NZ) in 1990 with a BVSc, and worked in general practice for 6 years until 1997, when he returned to Massey for a residency in small animal internal medicine, and graduated with a Masters in Veterinary Science in 2000. In 2004 he moved to the University of California, Davis, where he attained a PhD in nutrition and immunology. At the same time, he completed a residency in small animal clinical nutrition, and became a diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Nutrition in 2004. In 2005, he returned to Massey University to lecture in small animal medicine and nutrition. He was a founding member of the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee, and is a founding board member for the Massey University Centre for Working Dogs. He is on the editorial board for Veterinary Quarterly, is an associate editor for Frontiers in Veterinary Science, has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, several textbook chapters, and is a frequent commentator in public media.

Sophie Fuchsen

Sophie has been with Hill’s for 5 years, having previously completed a Masters of Agricultural and Animal Sciences at Melbourne University. With her sporting and fitness interests severely impacted by Melbourne’s string of lockdowns, Sophie has turned her focus to yoga for physical and mental health. She regularly hosts sessions for friends and colleagues as a way to break up the long lockdown days.
Philip Judge

Philip graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 1992, and spent 7 years in small animal practice before undertaking a 3-year residency in veterinary emergency and critical care at the University of Melbourne in 1998. Following his residency, Philip worked for nearly 6 years at the Animal Emergency Centre in Melbourne, becoming the Senior Veterinarian at the centre in 2004. In 2006,
Philip undertook a 1-year surgical externship before moving to Townsville to take up the position of Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care at JCU. Philip is also co-founder, and director of Vet Education Pty Ltd (www.veteducation.com.au) – one of Australia’s leading providers of online continuing education for veterinarians and veterinary nurses.
Philip has published numerous manuals and guides concerning emergency medicine, including a CRI manual, haematology and biochemistry interpretation guide, emergency anaesthesia guide, and a ventilation therapy manual for small animals, in addition to being published in peer reviewed literature.
Philip's key interests in veterinary science include respiratory emergencies, ventilation therapy, envenomations, and toxicology.
